Au revior Pari, allo London
So Paris was just fabulous as always, if not a bit hot. But a fantastic week of visiting museums and wandering the streets of Montemarte during the evenings.
On Saturday we hopped aboard the Eurostar to shoot through the Tunnel to London. Getting to the train was a bit of an ordeal. I am used to travelling with a backpack and for the Churchill I decided to be all grown up and take a case with wheels. Hmm. Paris and London are both full of steps… not escalators – steps. So I was cursing the heavy luggage as I watched Leigh stride ahead with his backpack.
But we arrived safe and sound and of course saved a fortune on cab fares so all ends well.
My mother-in-law has come over for 2 weeks to sightsee and keep Leigh company and on Sunday we took her out to Harrods for high tea for her 75th birthday.
It was so lovely and so many cakes and cups of tea – it was pure indulgence.
My mentor Lyn gave me the advice of keeping the weekends free to relax, to catch my breath from the week’s work and take the time to sightsee and this weekend we truly did! And it was fantastic.
Even better because I have a full on week of meetings in London and Manchester this week before we head to New York, and I know I keep going on about this, but it really has been the most amazing experience.
I’m meeting with people who are so willing to share information and to be able to visit the museums and galleries around the world is incredible considering it takes 5 hours just to get to the east coast of Australia from Perth!
